Bystanders and Perpetrators

Think of the kapos and the little blonde pipel who is hanged on page 64. Who are the bystanders? Who are the perpetrators? Who are the victims in Night? Do these roles sometimes overlap?

  1. I feel that the bystanders were the prisoners. I know they couldn't do anything without being hanged themselves. But, the guards are bystanders too. The perpetrators are defiantly the guards also they are the ones who organized the hanging. Without a question the victims of Night are the prisoners alive or dead they are the victims of this horrible event.

  3. I agree that the guards are perpetrators. Sometimes the guards/SS men can be bystanders too because they are just making sure the prisoners do not leave or move. The victims are the dead and wounded Jews and the other prisoners are bystanders.

  4. I agree with Beatrice's and Erica's statement.Guards are perpetrators ,but they sometimes can be bystanders. They just follow Hitler's directions. That they can not leave and killing jews. The jews ,and the dead jews are the victim from the perpetretors.Everyone else is are bystanders.
